North West, the 10-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, recently captivated audiences with her performance as the young Simba during two Lion King concerts at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, May 24th, and Saturday, May 25th. The concerts celebrated the 30th anniversary of Disney’s beloved animated movie, and it was evident that Kim was extremely proud of her daughter’s performance.
A Memorable Lion King Performance
In photos shared by her mother, North is seen dressed in a charming light yellow furry hooded sweatshirt with matching pants and slippers. Notably, the costume was designed by the fashion brand ERL rather than the production’s costume designer. North performed “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” showcasing her budding musical talent.
Before stepping on stage, North received an introduction from Jason Weaver, who sang as young Simba in the original 1994 movie. This special moment seemed to set the stage for what was to come. An eyewitness revealed that despite initial nerves, North appeared confident and enjoyed herself immensely.
The Parents Were Visibly Proud
An insider reported that Kanye started filming with his phone as soon as his daughter started singing. Both parents were visible in the audience along with their other children, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Kim offered glimpses of behind-the-scenes moments through Instagram Stories, like North helping her sister Chicago with her hair before the big performance. These tender moments show the close-knit bond within this famous family.
Unfortunately, North received a lot of criticism for her performance, with many labeling her as a “nepo baby” and saying her performance wasn’t up to par. Some said that children who had put in more work and training deserved the role more, and others criticized her inappropriate Simba outfit. At least she was able to go home knowing her parents and family were proud of her.
